Sunflower Colors

The beautiful weather we have had this summer has been nice!  I have enjoyed it so much, especially with this sweet friend:

Rego

I do love to see what blooms this time of year, my sunflowers:

white dahlia:

I have also enjoyed home grown tomatoes!

All these beautiful colors are making me think of some sunflower projects I would like to stitch:

Hi Darlene, Thank you! I love these colors too :)
Jules - Thank you! He is a busy one who doesn't like to slow down to pose for pictures!
Hi Heather - Thank you! My tomatoes have been just wonderful this year, a sort of rare treat for the cool pacific northwest!

I love those sunflowers!
I didn't see this pattern packet in your shop on Etsy. Will it be available soon?

Mary - Thank you!! :)
Angela - Thanks! I am so happy with this camera!
Staci - Thank you! I love sunflowers too :) The sunflower patterns are from two different pattern packets. The sunflower to the right of the floss (next to the hoop) is from the Chicken Embroidery Pattern (peep-peep-peep). You can find that here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/62776619/chicken-embroidery-pattern-hen-and-chick?ref=shop_home_active
The two sunflowers to the left of the floss are both from the Autumn Pattern Packet - you can find that here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/78060306/autumn-embroidery-pattern-maple-leaf?ref=shop_home_active

Thank you so much, Kimberly! I overlooked the Autumn set on my first look. I just ordered both patterns. I've got plans for those SUNFLOWERS! =)

Hi Heather! It sounds like you are off to a great start. Embroidering is so much fun, I know you are going to enjoy it. For material, you can do basic stitches on just about any fabric. I would suggest a nice medium weave 100% cotton to practice your stitches on. Linen is a wonderful fabric for embroidering but can be fairly expensive. The only fabrics I avoid are thick pile fabrics (like velvet or terry-cloth)or stretchy knit fabric (like sweat shirts). I avoid these mainly because it is difficult to transfer images onto these types of fabrics.
I would suggest buying an embroidery hoop too! I have a few posts from my blog that may help:
For embroidery hoops -I like using these plastic hoops - you can read about mine here: http://bigbgsd.blogspot.com/2010/08/new-hoops-floss-and.html
For the needles I like to use:

For transferring patterns to fabric: http://bigbgsd.blogspot.com/2010/10/ideas-on-transferring-patterns-to.html
I hope this information is helpful, please let me know if you have any questions!
